Dr. Royson Donate Dsouza

Hygroflax

M-ERA.NET EU consortium project on hygroscopic behaviour and mechanical performance of flax-fibre reinforced composites. Coordinates a 10-partner international consortium including TU Wien (Austria) as key partner.

Wood multiphase modeling

Development of custom user element subroutines (UEL) for multiphase modeling of wood drying and infiltration phenomena, with transition to open-source FEniCSx platform. Collaboration with TU Wien Structural Simulation and Timber Engineering group.

Short-fibre RVE automation

Automated simulation workflow for short-fibre composites covering CAD import, representative volume element (RVE) generation, and full finite element analysis using Python and Julia (Ferrite.jl), with an intuitive Python-based UI.

FibreNet (H2020 MSCA)

Marie Skłodowska-Curie H2020 Innovative Training Network on natural fibre composites. Designed and implemented experimental and numerical models for single-fibre interfacial testing. Contributed to FIBDATA, ABCModels, and Numobio EU subprojects.

Micro-composite durability — KU Leuven

Durability study of flax fibre micro-composites using hygrothermal cycling, performed in collaboration with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium as part of the Marie Curie H2020 secondment programme.

FBG sensor integration — Textechno

Adapted an industrial pull-out testing machine at Textechno Herbert Stein GmbH (Germany) to integrate Fibre Bragg Grating optical fibres for high-resolution strain measurement during single-fibre pull-out tests.

Piezoelectric 2-DOF microgripper

Design and development of a piezoelectric actuated 2 DOF compliant microgripper at NIT Karnataka, India. Master thesis work resulting in a Best Paper Award at ICMRE 2017.
